THE PCT PAUL RUBIN MEMORIAL

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Each year in May, the PCT, in honor of Paul Rubin, will award a two thousand dollar ($2000) scholarship to a graduating senior of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Schools whose scholarship, extra-curricular activities and other interests evidence a concern for the benefit of the human condition.

The scholarship is named for Paul Rubin, past President of the PCT - a man who spent his adult life building the union movement in the United States and building a strong union in Plainview. He wanted all working people to be treated with dignity and to demand respect. He worked tirelessly so that ordinary working people would have a voice in building a society which benefits all its members. The staff. the students and the entire Plainview-Old Bethpage School District were the great beneficiaries of his work. It is very fitting that the PCT dedicate a special award in Paul Rubin's memory which will carry on the spirit of his achievements by inspiring young people to live lives of social conscience.
